How to find inner peace can be best answered by learning to know who you are and what your life’s purpose is. Of course the answer itself is not a quick fix solution. It does have a lot to do with removing the ego from dominating your thoughts.
Ego dominated life
Once you start observing people around you not long after you are born there is evidence of ego surfacing all around you. People start to compare at how beautiful or handsome you the baby are. They boast about how quickly the baby learns to crawl, talk, walk and so on. This “my baby is better than yours” syndrome is all about ego. It is about becoming better than everybody else. Once this mindset is permeated to you it takes on a life of its own. It gathers momentum and sets you up for a roller coaster of success and failure emotions. It takes hold and defines who you are if you allow it to go unchecked.
You begin to define who you are by the material possessions you have acquired. Your whole self worth is determined by the number of successes you have achieved throughout your battles. This becomes a continuous cycle of striving to win more battles and acquiring more things. If this were to make you happy then everything would be rosy.

How do you find inner peace?

Your whole body will begin to align itself with nature. You will begin to appreciate all of the marvellous miracles of nature all around you. It will become an awakening.
So how do you arrive at this state? Let’s back track to the opening part of this article. We spoke about how the ego can take hold and lead you up the garden path. It deliberately moves you away from being at peace. It knows that it cannot dominate and control when you are at peace with yourself. It is only when you begin to have this awareness of what is actually going on that you can take stock and begin to make some changes.
What are the changes you need to make?
- Become aware of your thoughts
- Realise that we are all connected
- Always lead with love
- Learn to appreciate and love yourself
- Develop a positive self talk
- Stop fuelling your ego
- Always engage in win win situations
- Discover your life’s purpose by discovering your passion
- Develop an attitude of gratitude
- Learn to give without expecting anything in return
- Find your voice and help others to do the same
I know each dot point above is daunting and could be the title of an article or a series of article in itself. I suggest you begin at learning to love your self. Look in the mirror and learn to really appreciate the person looking back at you. Only when you can do this will you be able to lead with love in everything you embark on. Tell yourself every day through positive affirmations how much you are growing to like the person you see looking back at you. Once again you will know you are on the right track by the way you begin to feel. Your highly charged emotions will be heralding to the universe the new calm inner you.
