When did you stop dreaming about that life you wanted to live? What stopped you? Did something go wrong? Have you stopped believing in yourself, in life’s magic, in your possibilities and opportunities?
Have you settled for a lesser-than existence, a life of mediocrity? Keeping busy working every hour you can to pay your rent or mortgage, put food on your children’s table, leaving very little time for actually living, and certainly not dreaming. You also find yourself very stressed and always tired.
I have this strange notion that we were meant to live enjoying life, seizing the moments, fulfilling our potential. Not settling for what life throws at us, struggling one day to the next, where you have stopped believing in your destiny.
The first thing that has to change is taking time out for yourself. Our ‘own time.’ Where you simply pause for a moment, taking time out from your normal day to day activities. To breath, to reflect, to imagine how life could be better.
This is about you making the best use of your time. Since my period of bad health I’ve learn to appreciate every second I get, determined to make the most of it. Knowing that there needs to be time for just me, used to relax, unwind and dream.
Once illness strikes, you realize there’s not a lot of time for you to do what you really need to do. And there’s no time like the present. Rufus Wainwright
When you take your time out, you need to relax. Maybe by enjoying a hot bath, or shower, listen to your favourite music or maybe practicing some meditation.
When you make yourself a priority, you are opening yourself up to the best in life. By creating ‘me time’ every day, giving yourself time away from thinking about your problems.
For a while just try having some fun. There’s nothing wrong in doing that. It is an essential component of living a balanced lifestyle.
Amazingly, by just doing this, you will begin to build up a force of positive energy within you.
Next you need to take time out to dream, daydream. Think back to your childhood. Remember how thrilled you would be just by seeing things in your imagination. Where your excitement would grow at the prospect of these things actually happening.
There are so many negative voices out there telling us that dreaming is a waste of time. I totally disagree. Dreaming is what inspires us to better things that will bring positive changes into our lives.
We all need a vision that inspires us providing a direction to move to0wards. This is what energises us, gets us moving every day taking active steps towards that dream which inspires us.
That vision is the things you want to happen but is probably the thing you’ve been limiting the most. Frighteningly the thing we often sacrifice the most in our fight for survival are our dreams and aspirations.
Our dreams guide us to reach for the stars, follow our heart’s desire and do the things we are passionate about. Dreams help weave the fabric of who we are.
The truth is, we all need to take time out for ourselves and to dream, to imagine and to hope. Dreaming is the way we define what matters to us and what we wish to accomplish and do in the world with this one life that we have.
Keep your dreams alive. Understand to achieve anything requires faith and belief in yourself, vision, hard work, determination, and dedication. Remember all things are possible for those who believe. Gail Devers
