I Love Mentoring

A mentor is usually a more senior, experienced, and knowledgeable individual who is in an interactive relationship with another individual (protégé) and purposefully invests time, interest, and support to help them with their growth.

Mentoring is a process to help people achieve what they want to achieve in their lives. My love affair with mentoring began many years ago. I really enjoy watching others grow, providing them with guidance, direction and support. Sharing what I have learnt is really important to me because ‘Sharing is truly caring.’

“Mentoring is a brain to pick, an ear to listen, and a push in the right direction”. John Crosby

Mentoring is putting part of you into other people and helping them reach their potential. The power of mentoring is so strong that you can actually see the lives of the persons you are influencing change before your eyes. As you give of yourself, helping them overcome obstacles in their lives and showing them how to grow personally and professionally, you help them achieve a whole new level of living. You truly make a difference in their lives.

“We make a living by what we get, we make a life by what we give”. Winston Churchill

I love being there to help others, and helping them see how much they have already grown. This part of the process allows another to reflect, and acknowledge achievements that they have allowed to go unrecognised or long forgotten.

People often have insufficient time to reflect on the range and depth of their achievements and they often forget the personal qualities they have drawn on and the skills they have applied. Rediscovering these helps them realise the resources they have to draw on, as well as improving their self-esteem and efficacy, which in turn can enhance performance.

“Be the change you want to see in the world”. Gandhi

We all need mentors to grow and excel. Mentoring is a powerful personal development and empowerment tool. It is an effective way of helping people to progress in both their careers and life.

Today has been a great day for me. I get to do something else I love. I got to speak to a group of internet marketers in my community. The connections I have already made with these people has been very uplifting for me, while enriching their life.

Although speaking to a group is not the same as one-on-one mentoring, it’s a great way to touch an audience and pass on information and experience, and so fulfilling.

To many of them, I feel more like a role model, inspiring them to develop their online business by sharing my success, knowledge and wisdom.

I think thats something really commendable to help others to achieve what they want. Mentoring would not only help others, but gives you a relief that you are doing some good to those who are in need.

“Be the change you want to see in the world”. Gandhi – One of my favorite quotes. This is a fabulous article Larry.
I’m currently a writing mentor. People are coming to me out of the woodwork for help and advice. A woman who has already published two books with Simon and Schuster is asking me to critique her first novel.
I’m also working with high schoolers who are aspiring writers. A mom of one of my students is bartering groceries for writing lessons. Love it!
