Today is my 50th birthday.
The population born between 1946 and 1964 is referred to as the Baby Boomer generation. Should I be pleased I’ve just made it into this elite group. I certainly think so.
I’ve read that approximately 77 million baby boomers were born from 1946 to 1964, so I know I have many compatriots who have reached this pinnacle of life. I really am a 50 year old, today’s the day, and yes I feel great. Who wouldn’t when they love what they do, and love life and everything it has to offer.
I recall as a kid being really excited about birthdays. What was not to love? Having your friends and family around you making a big deal out the fact that on this same day some years ago you were born. You were the centre of attention on that day each year. There were presents, there was food, lots of it, there were cakes, parties and all sorts of festivities. Alas as we get on a bit in age generally we stop getting so excited about birthdays. Eventually we reach this birthday date with indifference.
This year has been different. The old joys and excitement of both the approaching date, and the day itself all returned. I was excited about becoming a 50 year old, and today I have been celebrating the milestone, and what life will bring.
In fact the week that I have had has been wonderful in every way, and is a definite indication to me about what I can expect in this my 50th year. I for one am thrilled to be working on a story that looks forward, into the future. I have no crystal ball to know what the future holds, but I do know that it will be lived doing what I love.
As I celebrate my half century of life today I do know I will continue my journey as a coach, lifestyle entrepreneur and blogger. I will enjoy almost every minute.
The fact is that regardless of your age, you need to have a story for where you are headed. You need to believe in what you’re doing and enjoy it. I certainly do.
Regardless of how many candles are on my cake I intend making the most of every day and therefore my life. Today was made more remarkable by being able to see the Olympic torch being taken through my town. A one off opportunity, that to me perfectly demonstrates how we can truly dream, and make our dreams a reality. I may never be an Olympic athlete, or a gold medallist in any event, but I sure can be proud of much of what I’ve achieved, and what I still have to do.
I hope as a healthy lifestyle blogger I am helping some of you make big strides in your life. That’s both my mission, and I truly believe my purpose. If you are a fellow baby boomer expect now many more posts talking to you.
For now I’m closing this first day of my 50th year. I will now go dream about what life will bring me.
Thanks for stopping by.
Come back soon.
