Here’s are my top 5 reasons for fatigue.
Do you feel tired all the time? Lots of people do. Maybe you’ve noticed that you are far more irritable as well as suffering a low sex drive, finding it difficult to concentrate, you always seem to be getting colds and coughs. I’m no doctor, but as a physical fitness instructor and life coach many people that I work with come to me with these type of ailments, and the common denominator normally works out to be that they are suffering from fatigue.
Fatigue is becoming a common problem with people seemingly run ragged by the breakneck pace of life, and the pressures of trying to survive in these economically difficult times.
Those suffering with fatigue appear to have a vast array of difficulties, the most common shared by those I’ve worked with include:
- Tired for no reason?
- Having trouble getting up in the morning?
- Needing coffee and energy drinks to keep going?
- Feeling run down and stressed?
- Craving Chocolate and Sweets?
- Struggling to keep up with life’s daily demands?
- Can’t bounce back from stress or illness?
- Not having fun any more?
- Decreased sex drive?
- Total lack of focus?
- Inability to concentrate?
I see fatigue as being constant tiredness with numerous additional symptoms that can leave people struggling with not having enough energy to just get through their day without feeling exhausted or meet the demands of their daily life; put simply, not being able to cope with life!
Today I want to spotlight for you the top 5 reasons for fatigue. The saying is I believe, forearmed is forewarned, knowing what causes fatigue gives you the opportunity to make the changes to diminish its effects on you.
The most common reasons for fatigue as I see them are:
1. Excessive Stress
In my coaching practice, I see so many clients suffering from stress related illness. Headache, stiff neck, aches and pains are commonplace today, but often top of the list is fatigue. Stress is a major culprit that leads to Fatigue because stress over works your adrenal glands, the glands that specifically deal with all survival responses in relation to any form of stress. Prolonged stress leads to adrenal exhaustion technically called Chronic Fatigue.
2. Bad Diet
Your body gets its energy from the food you eat. But, if you aren’t eating the right kinds of foods, your body won’t have the energy you need to get through the day. Eating the wrong foods, or at the wrong times can leave you fatigued as your blood sugar levels could be fluctuating wildly. Poor diet and crash dieting are major causes of chronic fatigue. a less than optimal dietary intake of virtually any nutrient can contribute to fatigue. In fact poor eating habits are one of the most common causes of fatigue.
3. Insufficient Sleep
If you lack quality sleep this would definitely be a major contributing factor to constant tiredness. Lack of sleep is the first place to look when you arte suffering with fatigue. This sounds simple but one of the most common causes of fatigue is getting too little sleep. Adults require 7-8 hours of undisturbed sleeps at night.
4. Lack of Exercise
I’m turning into a gym instructor for a minute. Exercise creates energy. Physical inactivity and poor fitness are the most common causes of fatigue for many people. The less physical activity an individual has, the more fatigued and lacking in vitality they will be.
5. Inability to Relax
What research points to is our inability to switch off and relax. The new technological age that was supposed to bring us freedom by allowing us greater flexibility is, in fact, slowly working to destroy us. So many people are on the go all day, and even when they get home they don’t have time to switch off. So they rarely get the opportunity to unwind and relax.
There are so many other reasons for fatigue, but I would say in my experience these are certainly amongst the most common. What these also show is that it is within your control to get things turned around.
To start getting yourself back to a more energised you, make sure you take care of the basics: your sleep, your diet, your activity level and time for relaxation. Sometimes the simplest fixes are all it takes.
You can do it particularly now that you aware of the top 5 reasons for fatigue.
