Your health and wellbeing is often neglected in the hustle and bustle of everyday life, because you can never find the time to focus on yourself.
Sometimes by the time you’ve worked your way through all the tasks in your day there’s no time to devote to yourself. Life is just to hectic, crazy sometimes. Often it seem like there’s not enough time for you to do everything. And when that’s the case, the first thing you usually give up is your ‘you’ time.
If you can’t even remember the last time you had the time to do something just for you, then it’s certainly time to put this situation right. You must, for your health, and your sanity, give yourself some time off.
We all see time as being a precious commodity. We struggle to get done those things we feel we have to. We often feel that we have to sacrifice our personal lives in order for our work to get done.
Well I’ve got news for you. As much as 80% of a your time at work is spent in activities that do not contribute to the results you are achieving. You are wasting this time on activities that simply aren’t making the best use of your time. So a large proportion of your working time is simply wasted.
Think about it. Can you see how you could be better using your time at work?
Let me offer you some suggestions:
- Identify the tasks that contribute the greatest value to your performance at work. Think about the things you do carefully. Identify your key tasks with absolute clarity so that you know without a shadow of a doubt what you can do to make the greatest contribution. What are the things you can do that will pay the biggest dividends.
- Identify the every day tasks and activities that eat away your time but contribute virtually nothing to your performance or results. Begin today to delegate those tasks to others, one at a time, or cut them out altogether where possible. It must be your priority to reduce the amount of time you spend in low-value, time-consuming activities. Be adamant about discontinuing tasks and activities that are of little importance. You will get so much more done in so much less time.
- Decide today to take at least one full day each week off work during which you spend time exclusively on your personal pursuits. During this time off, refuse to do anything associated with work. Do not read, make telephone calls, catch up on your correspondence, work on your computer, or do anything else work related. Let your brain completely recharge and rejuvenate by turning your attention to something apart from the work you do during the week.
So simply pay closer attention to the things you do. Be more aware of yourself and your actions. Think about carefully about everything you do. Identify your most important tasks and concentrate on them single-mindedly. The very act of continually thinking through your activities before you begin will develop within you new habits of thought and action that will lead to greater levels of productivity and performance. You will be amazed at the improvements that take place in every part of your life, and they will take place far faster than you can imagine.
You are 100% responsible for yourself, it is up to you to take control of your day, and determine exactly what it is you’re going to do with your time. By doing this, you will determine the quality of each of your days, and be the one in charge of your life. By doing this, your time will be spent your way and you’ll do more of the things that you want to do. Yet achieving so much more.
There’s no limit to the things you can accomplish and still find the time to give yourself solitude which is so beneficial for your own personal development. The important thing is making the time for this, then surrender it at your peril.
