I can actually relate to todays blog post as one thing I have always done in my life is never never give up!
“Never give up on something that you can’t go a day without thinking about.” Winston Churchill
Have you at some point thought about giving up on your dreams? Should you consider this option earnestly, or ignore it? When is it right to walk away? Does it make sense ever to quit?
We are talking here about quitting on something you’ve put a lot of time and effort in. Getting to the point where the frustrations have got so great you decide it’s best to just give up, literally throw in the towel like a beaten boxer.
Most of us at some point have faced this dilemma, or is it more a nightmare. Reaching a place where it seems easier to give up than it does to keep trying. Yet for me, somebody very driven by my dreams, I believe we have to withstand the pressure and persevere simply refusing to give up.
The truth is we can never know when we will achieve our dream, how long it will take, how close we are to the winning line. We wouldn’t know if it’s achievement was just around the corner. Working so hard to achieve something, would I dare to give up hope, I don’t think so.
We may need to keep reminding ourselves of how important achieving our dream is to us. Whether we believe genuinely that we can achieve it, and whether we want it enough.
Anyone that has achieved a dream will have had to overcome obstacles to make their dreams come true. It would have been so easy for them to give up, but they never did, instead they kept believing in themselves and their ability to make their dreams come true.
Our possibilities are endless, opportunities awaiting us at different points. My journey has demonstrated that many times. I could have given up so many times, others at times have urged me to. Yet I’ve always kept going, and the fruits of my labour have started to pay off. Without a doubt fate has played a helping hand, but I truly believe my hard work and persistence has made this possible. If I had given up on my dreams, I would have lost out on so much, and would regret it till the day I die. Dreams have power, they keep us going, they give us a focus and a determination, they make us willing to defy all odds to fight on, because fulfilling our dreams is so empowering.
While I am working towards my dreams I’m happier than I could be doing anything else. Of course at times the frustrations are agonising, but the vision I hold for my future makes giving up a non option.
The only definite, is that if you do give up on your dreams, you won’t ever know the bliss that comes with achieving them. You may get knock backs, that’s just life. Get up and get moving again. There’s always hope and promise of what’s to come.
No matter how hard my battles have been, I’m not one for whining or making excuses. I find it so sad that so many out there do always look for excuses, things and people to blame, pointing their finger away from themselves to find reasons to give up on their dream.
Each one of us is unique, having special talents, with so much potential, yet so many focus their attention on what’s missing from their life, and worse still they fear actually achieving their dream. I had to speak with somebody this week facing this type of dilemma.
My message to them was that if you want something, believe in yourself, work for it and don’t quit, whenever things don’t go as planned, you will eventually achieve whatever it is you are trying to achieve. Just never stop believing, never stop trying. Accept your mistakes, and failures, and see them as lessons, as opportunities to grow.
Even when you feel like you have given everything yet not seen the light at the end of the tunnel don’t lose hope, don’t give the thought that your dreams will never happen the light of day.
Know that the path that your dream takes you on is part of the magic of life. And where your dream means enough to you then no matter what problems meet you on this path you’d never ever give up. You see challenges and obstacles as temporary and as valuable learning experiences and you’d never consider quitting.
The only time to consider actually giving up is when you’ve lost your passion. When getting up in the morning stresses you because you don’t want to be working on what you have to to deliver your particular dream. If you are forcing yourself to do something, that doesn’t bring you either happiness or excitement, then yes it may be right to give up. To me this would be the only reason.
If you learn from your experiences, never repeating the same mistake twice, and you have a resolve to never quit, your success is certain. So never ever give up.
