So here am I sitting in Costa Coffee in Loughton, Essex. It’s so strange how different, things become over the years. This used to be part of my local area, after all, the woman I was married to for some 20 something years comes from around here. Yet sipping my skinny late and waiting for inspiration to strike for today’s impromptu blog I can’t help but overhear all the different conversations taking place around me. Two things are very noticeable. How much louder people from Essex are, and how distinctive their accent is. I would never have noticed this ten years ago, it was the norm, but now I find it quite strange. What I find even stranger is whether I perhaps now find the North East accent the norm. You have to be English to understand how strange that may be. As a Londoner once upon a time not only would a North East accent stand out from the crowd, it would be the one I wouldn’t have been able to understand much of what was being said.
I think this goes to show how the brain becomes accustomed to things. Over time you can get your mind to accept what is normality. Maybe that is why negativity is so dangerous. When we keep allowing negative thoughts to enter our mind, negative factors to influence us, then it becomes the norm, what we expect, just the way things are.
I’m here today at the end of a brilliant week. Not only have I further developed a genuinely exciting business relationship with Bio-Synergy but also to take care of my youngest daughter Carly who has had examinations this week. In fact while I write this she is sitting at Epping Forest College taking her last one for this week.
Today’s exam is in her least favourite subject. From the minute she was awake she was a completely different girl from the one I said goodnight to. Gone was the chirpy, bright, infectious chatterbox and in her place was this edgy, frightened, quiet zombie who knew she was heading to disaster. You could tell that she was constantly repeating things to herself such as ‘this is going to be a complete nightmare..’
Negativity is destructive, damaging, and downright devastating to anyone’s success as well as to their happiness.
It is easy to fall into the negativity trap. Complaining about others seems to be human nature, seeing our circumstances as being the result of external events the norm. .Once in the trap it is almost impossible to get out of it since it acts like a prison to our mind. It pulls people in and keeps them there.
Negativity can work as a virus “infecting” everything in your life, all that you do and what happens to you. It can sabotage your future.
The best antidote I can prescribe is a very simple one:
[cmsmasters_quotes mode=”grid” columns=”1″ animation_delay=”0″][cmsmasters_quote name=”Unknown”]Be Positive, Remain Optimistic, Don’t Let Negativity Fog Your Thinking, when a negative thought enters your head replace it immediately with a positive one.[/cmsmasters_quote][/cmsmasters_quotes]Whether it is a thought, an event or another person we will always find negativity that can easily influence us and create a life we don’t want to live if we let it, but we have to refuse to let any of these negative forces influence us. You are your best protector, so start protecting yourself and raise your shield to negativity.
I don’t often enough provide links, but as todays entire post is just off the cuff over a cup of coffee I may as well go with how I feel. So here is a great but simple article of things you can do to defend yourself against negativity on the brilliant marcandangel blog site:
10 ways to defend yourself against negativity
As my finishing thought we all know that are minds are constantly thinking about something, we are never without a thought or idea. In fact, it is our thoughts that define our happiness, our emotions, the way we live our lives, yes in my mind they’re that important. My success and happiness is 100% down to my ability to retain a positive mental state no matter how difficult at times circumstances may have got.
I’m not saying I was a happy, smiley chappie 24/7, after all I’m only human. I’m sure every one of you has heard of the 80:20 rule. It applies to everything, and is a sensational concept to use throughout your life. In this context I am an ultra positive person 80% of the time, the other 20 I call it my time to visit the dark side. I can assure you there’s only one side worth being on.
I hope you enjoyed today’s article, Now be positive and say, Larry it was great, and mean it! Start now and don’t let negativity in.
