Here’s my all time never give up movies. There are the movies that inspire us. They make us want to get up and give our best … until there’s nothing more to give … and then give some more. They move us. They remind us that in order to get what you want in life, you often have to go beyond what you thought you were capable of, and overcome obstacles on your path.
Most people don’t experience the life of their dreams simply because they quit way too easily. Not giving up on your dreams is one of the things I am most passionate about in life.
Life is going to find way to test you at times things may seem so unfair. Sometimes it seems easier to just give up But whatever your dream is, if it’s important to you, then fight for it, never give up.
I have written many blogs on the subject of never giving up. Two of my favourites are Never Give up believing in Yourself and Never Give up On Your Dreams.
More often than not, we’re going to be faced with numerous obstacles that try and get in the way of our dreams, but we simply have to work harder and show more determination.
You have to decide what is important to you and take huge steps every day and never give up.
Even though at times it seems like things aren’t working, you just have to deal with it.
You just have to keep reminding yourself how badly you want to achieve your goal. If you want it enough nothing will derail you.
“Fall down seven times, get up eight.” Japanese proverb
Single mindedness, determination, dedication, self-belief and the ability to never give up are what distinguish people who do great things with their lives from those whose dreams die with them.
Next time you’re feeling down and about to give up, watch one of these inspiring movies to remind yourself to battle on.
1. Ghandi
This has to me one of the most inspirational stories ever told. Gandhi had a clear mission, a dream, all he wanted to do was to get Indian rights, without any other hidden agenda. The film covers Gandhi’s adult life showing how his spiritual principles of equality, tolerance, and non-violence inspired India to push for independence from British rule. His triumph changed the world forever.
“Whenever I despair, I remember that the way of truth and love has always won. There may be tyrants and murderers, and for a time, they may seem invincible, but in the end, they always fail. Think of it: always”. Gandhi
2. 300
Anyone who knows me would have guessed my all time favourite film would make the list. Maybe you’d think it doesn’t fit. After all it shgows failure, or does it? It’s a movie where the Hero’s didn’t win. But what it does show is when you truly believe in something, at times, one must sacrifice oneself, and never give in. . A band of 300 Spartans heroically positioned themselves, under the leadership of King Leonidas, in the narrow pass of Thermopylae, directly in the path of an oncoming force of Persians numbering in the hundreds of thousands. These 300 Spartans were killed to the last man.
“Children, gather round! No retreat, no surrender; that is Spartan law. And by Spartan law we will stand and fight… and die. A new age has begun. An age of freedom, and all will know, that 300 Spartans gave their last breath to defend it!” King Leonidas
3. The Pursuit of Happyness
Chris Gardner inspired the movie “The Pursuit of Happyness.” The film depicts the hardships he faced in life before his success; financial problems lead his wife to leave him and his extraordinary journey from homelessness to success as a stockbroker, all while supporting his young son as a single father. Chris Gardner’s story is an inspiration and role model to everyone, a true rags to riches tale. From a broke homeless man he rose to be a millionaire. He never gave up.
“Don’t ever let someone tell you that you can’t do something. Not even me. You got a dream, you gotta protect it. When people can’t do something themselves, they’re gonna tell you that you can’t do it. You want something, go get it. Period”. Will Smith – Pursuit Of Happyness
4. Braveheart
This movie is an example of the struggles that one needs to endure to get what one wants out of life. A dramatically inspiring movie about courage and freedom. William Wallace, a scottish highlander, unites the 13th Century Scots in revolt against English tyranny. William Wallace made huge sacrifices against all the odds to defend his faith that Scotland would be free! He and his men demonstrate the willpower needed to never give up.
“You have come to fight as free men, and free men you are. What will you do with that freedom? Will you fight? Aye, fight and you may die, run and you’ll live. At least a while. And dying in your beds many years from now, would you be willing to trade all the days from this day to that for one chance, just one chance to come back here and tell our enemies that they may take our lives, but they’ll never take our freedom!” William Wallace
5. Rocky
The series of Rocky films are some of the greatest inspirational movies I know empowering people to go the distance with their dreams. Rocky Balboa was an underdog who never gave up hoping and working towards his shot. He showed what’s possible if you have a burning heart with strong desire. He got his opportunity in Rocky The original movie, and had all film goers screaming at the top of their lungs for Rocky to win the match… How many times did he pick himself off the floor or from the ropes? How many punches did he take? But whatever was thrown at him, he never gave up.
“Who am I kiddin’? I ain’t even in the guy’s league…It don’t matter, ’cause I was nobody before…I was nobody. That don’t matter either, ya know…It really don’t matter if I lose this fight. It really don’t matter if this guy opens my head, either. ‘Cause all I wanna do is go the distance. Nobody’s ever gone the distance with Creed. And if I can go that distance, ya see, and that bell rings, ya know, and I’m still standin’, I’m gonna know for the first time in my life, ya see, that I weren’t just another bum from the neighborhood.” Rocky
There are so many more movies that come to mind, and I think I’d enjoy producing a series of these posts. For now if you need inspiration check these out.
