Well for more time than you care to remember you have gone through a ritual at the end of a year as you focus your mind on the things you would like to achieve in the forthcoming 12 months and set into motion your new year resolutions.
Yet year after year they never seem to materialise. By April they’re never more than a distant memory. Life just carries on like before nothing changes much and these resolutions have left no more than a small meaningless imprint.
It gets to the point for many where they no longer bother wasting any more time on this pointless ritual. Instead they just allow the winds of life to direct their path.
I was skyping with somebody just the other day who told me that he didn’t like goals because if you don’t aim to high you won’t get too disappointed. In fact he said ‘I tend to bulk at goals and just hope that things work out.’
This is an internal programming I simply don’t understand. In truth it’s more an internal barrier he has constructed in a belief that it will protect him from his greatest fear … failure.
Why is it that so many people dread trying something because they fear failing? Don’t they understand that if you don’t try you can’t succeed. To me its far worse to not go for your dreams than to try and fail.
Success will always be hard earned because nothing worth having comes easily. But when you want something enough your motivation will be high and as long as you do the right things you’re giving yourself the best chance of achieving it. And this is where goals come into being crucial for us.
Setting goals is important but equally so is actually following through on them. Remember, most people set New Year’s goals but have no plan , take no action, and then seemed surprised when these goals crash and burn.
Just understand that most remarkable successes start with setting goals. So get a clear, specific goal in mind then embark on making it come to fruition.
Happy New Year to you, and I pray your goals come true this coming year

I love setting goals. Although it’s one thing to set them, it’s another to achieve them. LOL
